Product Description
Cisco Catalyst 3850 24-Port Stackable Switch WS-C3850-24P-E
The Cisco Catalyst 3850 24-Port Stackable Switch provides enterprise-grade Gigabit Ethernet connectivity with advanced switching, routing and stacking capabilities.
Designed for business and campus networks, the Catalyst 3850 combines wired access switching with Cisco’s StackWise-480 technology. Multiple compatible Catalyst 3850 switches can be combined into a stack and managed as a single logical unit, simplifying network expansion and administration. Cisco documents support for data stacks of up to nine switches under standard stacking guidelines.
The 24-port non-PoE WS-C3850-24P-S model provides 24 × 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports, one network-module slot and a 350W AC power supply. Cisco identifies this configuration as an IP Base switch.

StackWise-480 Technology
A major advantage of the Catalyst 3850 is StackWise-480. It enables compatible switches to operate together as a stack, providing a scalable architecture for growing networks.
Cisco documents 480 Gbps stacking bandwidth and standard data stacks of up to nine switches.
This makes the Catalyst 3850 suitable for organizations that need to expand the number of network ports without managing every switch as a completely independent device.
Network Connectivity
The 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports provide 10/100/1000 Mbps connectivity for computers, servers, printers, IP phones, access points and other network devices.
The switch also has a network-module slot, allowing compatible uplink modules to be installed depending on the exact configuration. Cisco’s 3850 documentation identifies multiple network-module options for the series.
