1000BASE-SX Multimode Fiber
The Cisco is designed for short-wavelength Gigabit Ethernet connections over multimode fiber.
- Cisco switch-to-switch connections
- Server-to-switch fiber connectivity
- Enterprise LAN infrastructure
- Data center networking
- Campus network links
- Network aggregation
- Fiber-based Gigabit Ethernet connections
The 1000BASE-SX standard is intended for multimode fiber and uses an 850 nm optical wavelength.
DOM Support
The Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM). Cisco distinguishes the GLC-SX-MMD from the GLC-SX-MM as the 1000BASE-SX version with DOM support.
DOM can provide optical diagnostics and operating information on compatible Cisco equipment, helping network administrators monitor supported transceiver parameters.
